Doctoral Routes - DBA and DPhil

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)

The DBA requires an advanced understanding of the body of knowledge underlying the several areas of management and their integration, together with demonstrated learning from managerial actions in which the Associate is or has been involved, the whole to be specifically appraised in an international context.

Associates with an MBA or equivalent (Route 1 - see Conspectus) must submit six assignments for assessment. Those without an MBA, but with a specialist Master's qualification in management (Route 2), are required to submit seven assignments. Details of Route 1 assignments are as follows (see Conspectus for full descriptions).

Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) or Doctor of Management (DMgt)

The DPhil or DMgt require an advanced understanding of the body of knowledge in a chosen area of management, together with demonstrated learning from managerial actions in which the Associate has been involved. All work must be positioned in an international context.

It is intended for those already working in management and may be taken in public sessions or organised in-company in collaboration with management development staffs or other management personnel, or in association with a professional institute for its members, and may be conducted either in the UK or overseas.
